The big day is here and our judge arrived at lunchtime today. He says there are 27 schools in the South Eastern Region that he has to look at and a lot of them said that they were expecting him later in the month! He was very impressed with the work that has gone on so far and loved the way parents, children and the Community were working together. He was pleased with all the colourful pots and suggested contacting the Conservation Volunteers if we want help with the plans at the back. He also showed me a picture of a school that had created a Greenhouse out of recycled plastic bottles - very impressive! He was impressed with the plans that had been drawn up and thought that the Environmental Review that the School Council are working on looked very professional. He said that we were certainly litter free and very clean and tidy with everything in its place. Well done to all those who participated in the mammoth weeding task - it paid off! He enjoyed taking a tour of our website and was slightly less enthusiastic about touring the school in the rain! He said that he enjoys going out to look at schools the first year and seeing how they have improved by the next - maybe that is a message! Other than that, he kept his opinions very hidden. He will be writing his report on each school by 22nd May and then the schools will be notified in June of his findings. There will be one winner and a runner up who will be invited to an awards ceremony towards the end of term. Fingers crossed everyone!!
